My favorite line from 'Juno'

Plinky asked today"What's your favorite line from a movie?" I don't have time to go through all my favorite lines and pick one!!(First response). So I took what came in my head first.

If you haven't seen Juno yet, see it.

"'I'm already pregnant, so what other kind of shenanigans can I get into?' "

Truer words were never spoken. I love her vocabulary and quick wit. I envy her confidence at that age. It's a feminist movie. It's a human movie.

Words that hurt me

Inspired by the Writer's Work shops at Mama's Losin' It:

"I never loved you." (First Husband when he left)
Foul words only aimed at strong females (usually by boys who think they are men but likely will never be). [rhymes with stitch, shunt, etc.]

Things my mother said to improve me. I know she mostly meant well, but only her insecurity made her need to improve me, and now the words are still there in my head.

And in that vein, anything said to shame another person.

A photo for square root day 3-3-9

I wish I could get the kitchen finished!

We're not quite done with the kitchen. Having it finished would streamline it both work-wise and visually. The counter tops are due to arrive Thursday. Then we'll finish the painting. Hubby wants a tiled back splash - which means more deciding, prep, and then I'll do the installation. Did I mention that I love to tile? (a future posting, perhaps)

Where did I go? I didn't know I was gone.

Do you ever feel like you lost a part of yourself?

Let me explain. Recently I took up bread-baking again. When my sons were small I'd bake all of our bread. I really enjoyed the miracle of dough. Plus the sensual delight - the scent of yeast and earthy flour, the feel of the dough as it changes from sticky to doughy to perfection, and finally the taste of a well made bread. It was amazing to create something like this. I was able to change things slightly as I wished.

And in some ways, making this bread was meditative. I had to focus and concentrate. I had to use my instincts to know when it felt right.

I am rediscovering these things. And relishing it yet again...likely more as it had been left behind and rediscovered. So it is cherished even more. This side of me.

What about you? What part of you have you left behind and need to rediscover?
